The sun dipped heavily in the sky as evening light cascaded over the land, blanketing it in a thick layer of sleep, the air drozey and cool for the evening, not a cloud present in the sky. The soft toot of an owl broke the long silence, travelling from far up in the trees, the night creatures awakening from their slumbers, ready to head out into the darkening night to hunt, waiting for the sun to finally disappear beyond the horizon. The air was thick and humid in the heat of summer, spreading over the land without giving release from it, even the rivers and streams, who's waters were normally cooling and fresh, seemed far too hot to sink into. There was a small breeze, however, useless almost though, not blowing cold air, giving no comfort from the harsh heat. It did, however, rustle the leaves slightly, causing smaller, less sturdy ones to sway aimlessly in the breeze. The warm summer morning was buzzing with life, energy coursing through the earth and through the animals, the meadow bursting with life. Now that the weather had calmed down a tad, and it was warmer rather than too hot, perfect weather for walking and playing, it had given the wild life some well-deserved energy.
